May 18/19th D-Day event and the prevailing winds currently from the East!

Following the ruling recently established by Conwy County Borough Council – that no formal flying event can be staged from the Great Orme’s Ski Slope site between 1st March and 30th June each season (due to the nesting of protected bird species on the Easterly facing cliffs) – should the prevailing winds remain from the NE, E or SE direction for our D-Day event planned 18/19th May we will have to run the meeting from the Tank Track site as a non-flying event in the hope that the winds change to a more suitable direction.

We appreciate this will be a frustrating call – especially if the windspeeds are strong enough to support PSS flying – but we need to follow the request to stay away from that particular slope during the defined nesting season.  With any luck over the coming days the prevailing winds will move away from the East and we will be able to run the event to the full!

A reminder that all other wind directions are flyable from (or with a walk from) the Tank Track car park.
