Great Orme event brings our 2023 season to a close!

The weekend of 14th / 15th October saw around 25 pilots meet for our final planned event of the 2023 season, this time at The Great Orme, Llandudno.

It proved to be a weekend of two contrasting halves, with stong NW winds on the Saturday, where all types of models were flown successfully, to warm, much calmer conditions on the Sunday where only the lightest of sports models could ably sustain flight from the slope.  Still, a very enjoyable weekend was had by all and a huge amount of flying was achieved on the Saturday in good conditions once the rain had blown through by 10:30am.  On Saturday night we enjoyed an ‘End of Season’ dinner with 16 people present.

A full report is due to be submitted to the editor of RCM&E magazine shortly, covering this event and our recent meetings at both the Bwlch and the Lleyn peninsula, effectively providing a summary of highlights from the second half of this season, one which has produced some memorable moments captured with the camera!

Our 2024 event dates will be compiled and issued towards the end of the year, so keep your eyes open for news on that – there may also be an ad-hoc event staged around New Years Eve/New Years Day which we’ve enjoyed running over the past few years – but more on that nearer the time!
