A superb weekend of PSS flying to round off our 2022 season!
We were blessed with good strength SW and S winds (and even some sunny skies!) throughout our final weekend event of the year – 8th/9th October – which resulted in a huge amount of flying taking place with all types of PSS airframes, a fantastic way to end our season!
Prizes were presented in the usual categories on the Saturday afternoon – congratulations to all the winners and especially Bob Jennings who took home the Ron Collins Memorial Trophy with his Nimrod winning ‘Model of the Event’.
Best Flown Propeller – Rich Henderson and Clive Gudgeon – Avro Lancaster duo
Best Flown Jet – Tim Mackey – Jet Provost Mk4 (150% plan)
Model of the Event – Bob Jennings – BAe Nimrod MRA4 (title image)
Attendance particularly on the Saturday was strong with ~40 pilots present and there must have been well over 100 models on show in the pits (and many more in the car boots!)

Sunday those who braved the higher winds were rewarded with some truly epic lift up on the Southerly bowl – the models were supercharged in the 35-40mph winds! The flying was amazing – the landings were challenging! More photos and an event report to follow.
Although that’s the end of our planned season of weekend events there will no doubt be a New Years ‘adhoc meet’ at The Great Orme as it seems to have become tradition, and we will look to arrange a non-flying get together before the 2023 season starts in April – more details here as and when they are known.
