PSSA Event Notice
This weekend 28th/29th May the PSSA return to the Great Orme in Llandudno for another ‘Fly for Fun’ event, with forecast winds from the North West and from the North East over the two days.
As you may be aware, ongoing work between the local flying community, the PSSA and Conwy County Council has led to the development of planned event Risk Assessments and Method Statements. The PSSA Risk Assessment is complete pending signature, it will be stored on the PSSA website in the near future, and all members should make themselves familiar with its content.
In compiling the Risk Assessment, and considering the CAA Article 16 regulatory guidance on flight safety, we have agreed with Conwy County Council that no further PSSA Events will be flown from the lower NW facing ‘Café slope’ above the Llech gully (SH 75453 84170). This is due primarily to the proximity of our models to the Marine Drive road and footpath whilst flying from that site, particularly during the landing circuit. Instead, when the wind blows NW, all flying activity linked to the PSSA event will now take place from the higher NW slope accessed from the Tank Track car park. More details will be provided during our event safety brief this weekend and at all future PSSA events when operating in a NW wind.
We continue to work closely with the site Warden, Conwy County Council and the local flying community to ensure our planned PSSA events are conducted with flight safety and that of the general public as a priority.
Many thanks for your understanding.
