The Vulcan makes for an impressive PSS model with its
huge delta wing. Here are just a few examples of the type seen
over the years.
Matt Jones has built
this impressive Avro Vulcan B2 from the South Herts
Models plans (based on the original wind tunnel model
drawings by A V Roe) and successfully converted it to PSS.
Model spans 72" and has over 9
sq ft of wing area. It has an AUW of 9lb and hence a wing
loading of just 16 oz/sq ft.
Model is built up
entirely from balsa and ply and the finished airframe is covered in
'anti-flash' white ProFilm.
Matt uses 4
x Elevons and a Rudder to control this mighty delta!

variant.
Matt has finished this model
in the colours of XH537, the RAF aircraft used as the test vehicle
in the Skybolt rocket program.

These models were seen together at the Ribble Valley PSS meet in 1990.
