The Republic P-47 'Thunderbolt' Collection

This model has been proven to work surprisingly well off the slope, despite its bulky fuselage.  It has been modelled in all scales and versions, often converted from kits or plans designed for powered flight...here are just a few examples from PSSA members over the years.

Steve Kemp lends scale to his P-47D Thunderbolt converted to PSS from an unknown design originally intended for .20 I/C power.

Model was fully restored and converted by Steve to use simple 2 channel R/C gear for the slope.

Model spans just 34" and has an AUW of 31oz.

Stuart Redfern displays his rendition of the P-47D at the Treake Cliff PSS Event in Derbyshire - November 2003.

Built from the Clive Smalley plans, it spans just 38" and is finished unusually in an RAF Burma scheme.

Phil Cooke successfully converted the E-Flite electric ARTF model to PSS - goes well in light lift thanks to its low weight.

All white foam construction - the motor and gearbox are removed and replaced with a large Rx battery just behind the spinner for balance.

Simple 2-Ch R/C controls Ailerons and Elevator.

Paul Janssens own design P-47D available to buy from the plans listing.

Spans 41" and has an AUW of 2.2lbs.

Model has a fibreglass fuselage and a fully built up wing.  Uses 2 Ch R/C for Ailerons and Elevator.
