The Gates Learjet Collection

The legendary executive jet has been proven to fly very well off the slope as a PSS model.

Derek Robertson built this Learjet 35 from the Skytime Soarers kit by Simon Cocker.

Based on the original Derek Price design, the kit is supplied with a fibreglass fuselage and veneered foam wings and tail.

Derek has finished his model in the colours of the United States Coast Guard, who trialled the Learjet prior to selecting another type.

The model weighs 7.2lbs and has a loading of 23 oz/ft sq.

Alan Hulme and Nigel Moule have since taken ownership of this fine prototype model, and it still flies today in 2009.

A testament indeed to the veneered foam construction method used in the late 80's!

The model is seen here at rest at the 2003 Lleyn PSSA event.

Derek Price holds his prototype Gates Learjet 35 up for the cameras at the Leek and Moorland Model Gliding Association PSS meeting in 1987.

The prototype was constructed of veneered foam although it was later successfully kitted by Simon Cocker with a fibreglass fuselage.
