The Hawker Hurricane Collection

The Hawker Hurricane has proven to be a winner off the slope with its ample wing area and clean lines, although, as in other divisions of our hobby it is modelled far less in comparison to its counterpart, the Spitfire.  Here are a few PSS examples;

Scratch built Hawker Hurricane by PSSA member Steve Wenban.

This 90" span model, designed by Steve, weighs in at 7kg and is constructed with glassed, balsa skinned foam wings and traditional ply and balsa fuselage construction.

In this dynamic photo, Dave Pope is seen maiden launching the Hurricane at the 2011 Manilla Slope Festival in Australia.

Model uses 4 channel R/C to control Ailerons, Elevator, Rudder and Flaps.

Andy Blackburn attended the 2003 Lleyn PSS Fly-In with his Hawker Hurricane built for PSS from the Balsacraft power kit.

This model is all built up, the sheeted wings are covered in glass whilst the fuselage is covered with tissue.  Using 3 channel R/C for ailerons, elevator and rudder, it has an AUW of 36.5oz and a resultant wing loading of 15oz/sq ft.

This Hurricane is finished in desert camouflage and is fitted with a scale air-filter in the nose.
