The F-4 Phantom II Collection

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom has for many years been kitted successfully for I/C and ducted fan applications, many of which have been modified for PSS flying.  Here are a few examples.

McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II seen here with builder Simon Cocker.

This 58" span model was built using foam wings and fibreglass fuselage.  It was successfully converted from the LMC kit designed originally for a .60 2 stroke I/C engine in the nose. The models AUW for PSS was 6lb.

With the model finished in the colours of the Thunderbirds USAF display team, Simon holds the Phantom aloft at the 1988 Leek and Moorlands PSS event.

Brian Bates unveiled his BVM Phantom conversion at the Lleyn PSS Event in May 2006.

Model is converted to PSS from an I/C Power kit and is finished with a high degree of detail.

The model saw Brian take the Best Static Jet prize at this event.

Barry Sleight lends scale to his immaculately finished F-4 Phantom II, designed originally for power but converted successfully to PSS.  Note the effective weathering detail on the airframe.

The model is seen during the Sheffield Soaring Association PSS event in October 1999, where it achieved second place in the static competition.
