The General Dynamics F-111 Collection

The F-111 was first modelled for PSS by Martin Whitelaw in the late eighties.  Here are a few other examples of the type seen on the slopes.

Glenn Salisbury holds his General Dynamics F-111C aloft for the camera.

This model was built from the Phil Cooke plans but enlarged to 150% scale.

It has blue foam cored, balsa veneered wings with a balsa fuselage and glassed blue foam intakes.  The model is covered in Solartex and sprayed to represent a RAAF machine.

General Dynamics FB-111 Aardvark, designed and built by Phil Cooke, seen here at the Great Orme PSS Event in 1998.

As originally drawn, the model was fitted with a true-scale wing.  Here it is modified and flown with a 115% area wing to improve soaring performance.

The model was formed using a conventionally built up fuselage and foam/veneer wings.  The canopy was cut out and formed using a plastic pop bottle.

Rez Manzoori launches Phil Cooke's FB-111 out over the sea cliffs on the Great Orme, Llandudno.

Martin Whitelaw poses with his original own design F-111A (far left) on the Great Orme, Llandudno.

Seen here with fellow 'swing-wingers' Andy Conway (centre) with Tornado and Ron Collins with his F-14 Tomcat.
